It’s getting toward the end of summer, and cooler weather will be coming upon us. What does this have to do with your window air conditioner you ask? A lot! It’s time to start thinking about removing the air conditioner from your window and storing it away for the winter. Some people leave their air conditioners in place all year round. We don’t think this is a good idea. When you remove your window air conditioner it gives you time to properly clean it and store it away out of the snow, ice and freezing temps. It also gives you a chance to examine your window frame for signs of stress or water damage that may need to be repaired. Also, it help reduce heating bills. Most people don’t have proper insulation around their air conditioners so leaving them in during the winter only lets more cold air in.
