Whenever you are looking to use a graphic designer you can use google to see how well they are thought of, and for detailed personal info you could run a background check or a reverse lookup online. If you are hiring anyone you should first look to find out as much information as possible about them, because it can happen that someone will try to scam you by pretending to be someone else or pretending to be an expert in something. This is not that uncommon, and so using the internet to see if you can find out more about someone or a company is wise.
